Abstract
Aim: Neuropeptide Y (NPY), is an abundantly expressed neurotransmitter capable of modulating immune responses related to atherosclerosis. The inflammatory infiltrate within atherosclerotic plaque is characterized by accumulation of macrophages which are subject to reprogram their phenotypes in response to environmental signals.
