Abstract
Chitosan’s lack of solubility in physiological pH and high molecular weight (MW) limits its use in hydrogel scaffolds. Conversion of chitosan to low MW chitooligosaccharides (COS) not only imparts water solubility, it also enhances several other biological properties.
