Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the 3rd most common cancer worldwide with an estimated 1.8 million new cases and 880,000 deaths worldwide in 2018 [1]. Metastatic CRC was historically considered incurable with 5-year overall survival (OS) of <10%. Improvements in combination systemic therapy options and diagnostic strategies have prolonged survival and facilitated our identification of patients with a low burden of metastatic disease for which we may consider metastasis-directed local therapy with the goal of improved survivorship.
