One new, namely 6-methoxykaempferol 3-O-[β-apiofuranosyl(l-->2)]-f-glucopyranosyl(l->6)-fl-glucopyranoside (2), and two known flavonoid glycosides, spinacetin 3-O-[β-apiofuranosyl(1-->2)]-β-glucopyranosyl(1-->6)-β-glucopyranoside (1) and spinacetin 3-O-gentiobioside (3), were isolated from the roots of Chenopodium bonus-henricus L. Their structures were determined by means of spectroscopic methods (ID, 2D NMR, UV, IR) and HR-ESI-MS. Radical scavenging and anti-oxidant activities of 1 and 3 were ...

In this paper, a chromatographic method for isolation and purification of coumarin compounds from Cortex fraxinus was established by using Superose 12 as the separation media for the first time. The conditions for separation were optimized. Four kinds of coumarin compounds including aesuletin, aesculin, fraxetin and fraxin were obtained. The purity of these compounds were 98.5, 99.1, 97.9 and 97.3%, respectively, which were determined by HPLC area normalization method. The chemical structures of...

Phytochemical investigation of the methanolic extract of Diospyros kaki leaves led to the isolation of osmanthuside H (1) and a new phenol glycoside, named gamnamoside [4-(3-hydroxypropyl)-2-methoxyphenol -D-apiofuranosyl( 1 6)-D-glucopyranoside] (2) along with (-) catechin (3) through a series of reversed phase column chromatography and preparative C18 HPLC. The structures of the isolates were determined by spectroscopic methods including IR, UV, HRTOFMS, and 2D NMR. Compounds 1, 2, and 3, show...

Phylogenetic relationships among 40 of the 43 recognized species of Fraxinus L. (Oleaceae) were estimated on the basis of 106 nuclear ribosomal ITS sequences. ITS trees resulting from maximum likelihood (ML), maximum parsimony (MP) and Bayesian inference (BI) are congruent and identify six distinct lineages. These clades allow establishing sections with high molecular and morphological support. The basal resolution generally has low ML bootstrap and MP jackknife support, but the Bayesian posteri...

Chemical studies on the roots of Fraxinus rhynchophylla led to the isolation of fraxisecoside (1), a novel coumarin–secoiridoid hybrid glycoside, namely, fraxetin-8-O-[11′-methyl-oleosidyl-(7′ → 6″)]-β-d-glucopyranoside and 14 known compounds. Their structures were elucidated based on chemical evidence and spectroscopic analysis, including extensive 2D NMR methods. Compound 2 was first isolated as a pure compound. Compound 1 exhibited moderate PTP1B inhibition activity. Compounds 1 and 2 showed ...

One-pot reactions of aldoses with L-cysteine methyl ester and o-tolyl isothiocyanate yielded methyl 2-(polyhydroxyalkyl)-3-(o-tolylthiocarbamoyl)-thiazolidine-4(R)-carboxylates. Direct HPLC analysis of the reaction mixture and UV detection at 250 nm discriminated D- and L-enantiomers of aldoses. The reaction was applied to the determination of absolute configuration the sugar residues of an aroma precursor.

Abstract A wide range of chemical components including coumarins, secoiridoids, phenylethanoids, flavonoids, and lignans has been isolated from Fraxinus species. Extracts and metabolites have been found to possess antiinflammatory, immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, antioxidative, skin regenerating, photodynamic damage prevention, liverprotecting, diuretic and antiallergic activities. Some species find application in contemporary medicine. In the present review the literature data on the phytochem...

Abstract In the quest to search and discover bioactive compounds from nature, terpenoids have emerged as one of the most interesting and researched classes of compounds. Secoiridoid, a type of the terpenoid, has also been extensively studied, especially their chemical structures and pharmacological effects. Oleaceae is a family of woody dicotyledonous plants with broad economic and medicinal values. This family contains a large number of flavonoids, monoterpenoids, iridoids, secoiridoids and phe...
