Composites of amorphous carbonated apatite and poly-(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate (PHB) and poly-(R)-3-hydroxybutyrate-co-(R)-3-hydroxyvalerate (PHBHV), respectively, were studied by pH monitoring upon immersion in water and by long-term osteoblast culture.
