Conformational evaluation of fusidic acid derivatives by 750 MHz 1H NMR and VCD

• The total 1 H NMR assignment of two acetyl fusidates was completed. • Coupling constant values suggest the B-ring conformation is not consistent with the published boat conformation. • Vibrational circular dichroism studies of the two acetyl fusidates indicate that ring b exists as an equilibrium of two twisted boat conformers. • The conformation is relevant for docking calculations to find further uses of fusidic acid and simple derivatives....
