Abstract
Disulfiram is an FDA-approved drug used to treat chronic alcoholism. This drug works by blocking the second step of ethanol metabolism by inhibiting aldehyde dehydrogenase-2 (ALDH2), the enzyme responsible for acetaldehyde oxidation into acetic acid.
