Understanding cornea epithelial stem cells and stem cell deficiency: Lessons learned using vertebrate model systems

Animal models have contributed greatly to our understanding of human diseases. Here, we focus on cornea epithelial stem cell (CESC) deficiency (commonly called limbal stem cell deficiency, LSCD).
