Abstract
In a rapidly changing business environment, supply chain agility has been recognized as an important source of sustainable competitive advantage. A large number of studies have explored the antecedents of supply chain agility, but there is little analysis from a strategic perspective. Taking into account the guiding role of strategic orientation in business development, we want to establish a link between strategic orientation and supply chain agility. Therefore, this paper chooses two strategic orientation, namely learning orientation and technology orientation, as two antecedents and test their effect on supply chain agility and also test whether supply chain agility has a mediating effect on the relationship between the two antecedents and business performance. Survey data were collected from 208 Chinese manufacturing enterprises and the structural equation model (SEM) was used to test the proposed hypotheses in the research model. The results show that the two antecedents have a positive effect on supply chain agility and supply chain agility can improve business performance. It also shows that both learning orientation and technology orientation can indirectly promote business performance through the mediating effect of supply chain agility.

The purpose of this study is to explore the role of logistics strategies (flexibility, collaboration, and differentiation) as antecedents of supply chain agility (SCA) and financial performance. Toward this end, we develop an integrative model based on the strategy–structure–performance paradigm, the resource-based view, and the relational view. Using structural equation modeling, we test the model with survey data gathered from 279 companies. The findings indicate that logistics strategies infl...

Drawing on the dynamic capability view, this study analyzes the effects of IT capabilities on supply chain capabilities and organizational agility. Based on survey data from 218 firms in Pakistan and employing structural equation modeling, our results reveal that the IT capabilities of IT infrastructure and IT assimilation influence supply chain capabilities of information integration and operational coordination, and that these supply chain capabilities affect organizational agility. In additio...

Although previous research has addressed the interface and logical association among marketing, information technology (IT) and supply chain management, there have been few, if any, attempts to investigate how IT capability and marketing capability influence supply chain integration (SCI). Thus, this study investigates the direct and interacting effects of IT capability and marketing capability on SCI. The hypothesised relationships were tested using survey data gathered from 329 firms in China’...

ABSTRACTSupply chain agility (SCA) has emerged as an important capability to remain competitive in this era of business uncertainty and turbulence. This study aims to gain knowledge of the current state of research on SCA, specifically to have conceptual clarity and synthesise future research avenues. To achieve these goals, we have carried out a systematic review of 118 research papers on SCA published from 1999 to 2016. The findings suggest that the domain has witnessed steady growth since its...

Responsiveness to customers and markets is an indispensable requirement for all industries, particularly the fashion industry. The present study attempts to address this issue by employing a resource-based perspective as a lens for exploring the major antecedents and consequences of supply chain agility at both the strategic and operational levels. Drawing on a review of the extant literature, we argue that two organizational flexibility factors – strategic flexibility and manufacturing flexibil...

This study investigates the impact of supplier innovativeness on supply chain collaboration and agility. The paper applies the diffusion of innovation theory to explain how supplier innovativeness has been diffused into the supply chain and how global sourcing moderates the relationship among supplier innovativeness, information sharing, strategic sourcing, and supply chain agility. This research analyzes 272 survey responses from supply and purchasing executives and managers in the manufacturin...

Agility has been identified as one of the most salient issues of contemporary supply chain management (Lee, 2004). Despite its importance, there has been limited theory development in supply chain agility at the firm level. The antecedents of firm supply chain agility are understood even less as they have been primarily addressed at an operational level. Gligor and Holcomb (2012b) emphasized that more research is needed to identify the firm supply chain agility strategic level antecedents. Gligo...

The world is moving into a situation where resource scarcity leads to an increase in material cost. A possible way to deal with the above challenge is to adopt Circular Economy (CE) concepts to make a close loop of material by eliminating industrial or post-consumer wastes. Integration of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, and big data analytics provides significant support in successfully adopting and implementing CE practices. This study aims to explo...
