The participant will explore various solutions that can promote healing among the members of the groups affected by micro- and macroaggressions. From these recommendations, the child and adolescent psychiatrist may choose to implement them in his/her practice. Microaggressions, or routine slights, can trigger psychological stress, distress, and trauma. “It’s not the incident that causes stress, distress, or trauma; it’s the helplessness in the face of the incident.” One of the most common coping mechanisms is anger, which fuels riots, vandalism, and other destructive behaviors.
