Abstract
A boundary element formulation incorporating a derived fundamental as its kernels is developed. The boundary element equation extends only over the portion of boundary, not including the surface of elliptical hole or the crack. Thus numerical difficulties associated with modelling stress concentration or singularity can be avoided and better numerical accuracy obtained.
