Abstract
Thermal decomposition of poly(lactic acid) (PLA) has been studied using thermogravimetry coupled to Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (TGA-FTIR). FTIR analysis of the evolved decomposition products shows the release of lactide molecule, acetaldehyde, carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide.
