The American Journal of Cardiology

The enclosed piece by Dr.Thomas L. Ross, my first cousin, was sent to me by Dr. Spencer B. King III, who had received it from Dr. Steven Noller, a cardiologist in Macon, Georgia, who discovered the piece while cleaning out some files. Dr. Ross was the first cardiologist in Macon. He had practiced briefly in the 1930s with my father, his uncle. The piece shows very nicely what one cardiologic practice in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s actually consisted of. Dr. Ross was always most kind to me, and it is a pleasure for me to be in a position to publish this piece. Each of his 2 lovely daughters, Susan Sawyer and Helen Tolbert, both of Atlanta, gave me permission to do so. Dr. Ross died in January 1983 of an aortic dissection.
