Surgical treatment of primary hyperparathyroidism in the elderly.

Twelve patients aged over 70 with primary hyperparathyroidism (persistent hypercalcaemia and raised serum parathyroid hormone concentrations) underwent parathyroidectomy, which was well tolerated by all.
