Abstract
1. Hepatocytes isolated from 3- to 5-week old chicks synthesized glucose from a variety of precursors. Laetate and fructose proved the most effective with pyruvate less so and glycerol and alanine relatively poor. 2. Oleate inhibited gluconeogenesis from lactate, pyruvate and glycerol. 3.
