Abstract
We report a strategy for the catalytic conversion of lignosulfonate into phenols over heterogeneous nickel catalysts. Aryl–alkyl bonds (C–O–C) and hydroxyl groups (–OH) are hydrogenated to phenols and alkanes, respectively, without disturbing the arenes.
