Methionine aminopeptidases and angiogenesis
Abstract
The initiator methionine residue of proteins is removed during synthesis by a specific and ubiquitous enzyme, methionine aminopeptidase (MetAP). Prokaryotes have a single gene, while eukaryotes have two isoforms.
