Treatment of glaucoma is long term; thus, it needs to be supplemented by a holistic approach to the patient, including education about the condition and the aim of treatment, support with continuing therapy, including instillation of medication, and measures to improve general health. Management has to be tailored to the individual needs of each patient to maximize the efficacy of treatment in maintaining visual function and related quality of life.
