Abstract Methane is classified as one of the most dangerous air pollutant with a warming potential over 20 times higher than that of CO2. Then, methane abatement trough catalytic oxidation processes, especially using low-cost, noble-metal-free catalysts, falls in line with the most important challenges of environmental catalysis. Therefore, a series of MnCeOx composite materials, with different compositions (0.10

Abstract The plastic waste has suffered a dramatic increase and has become one of the biggest environmental problems nowadays. The chemical transformation of plastics by catalytic cracking under hydrogen atmosphere (hydrocracking) is one of the viable solutions to this problem since it can convert plastic residues into petrochemicals and fuels. In this work a thermogravimetric study of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) conversion under hydrogen atmosphere and in the presence of catalysts with dif...

Abstract Catalytic hydrogenation of mono-, di- and trinuclear aromatic compounds has been studied under hydrogen transfer conditions at 150 °C and 82 °C in 2-PrOH as a hydrogen donor and with Raney® nickel as a catalyst. In contrast to conjugated or condensed aromatic rings, isolated ones demonstrated low reactivity in transfer hydrogenation (TH) that can be used to increase the hydrogenation selectivity of the reaction. So, naphthalene and biphenyl are partially hydrogenated into tetralin and c...

Abstract X wt.% Ni/Ce0.75Zr0.25O2 catalysts (X = 5, 9, 12, 15) have been prepared by the incipient wetness impregnation technique in the presence of ethylene glycol (EG) and tested in the steam reforming of a propane-methane mixture at temperatures below 350 °C. The activity of the catalysts obtained has been compared to the activity of industrial Ni catalysts. Catalytic activity of the samples increased with increasing Ni content and allowed complete propane conversion at 270-300 °C. The cataly...

Abstract The development of efficient processes for the upgrading of low value bio-derived liquid intermediates to high added value products in biorefineries is critical for the establishment of a robust and competitive bio-based economy. We show in this paper that low quality surrogate heavy naphtha, representative of biofuels from thermochemical biomass conversion processes, can be efficiently converted to high quality fuel and chemicals (olefins) via hydroisomerization and catalytic cracking,...

Abstract Ordered mesoporous MgAl2O4 support was synthesized by one-pot evaporation-induced self-assembly method with block copolymers. Nanocomposite catalysts were prepared by loading this support with PrNi0.9Ru0.1O3 perovskite or Ni + Ru-doped Ce0.35Zr0.35Pr0.3O2 fluorite oxides. Their texture, structure, surface properties and reactivity have been studied by combination of modern structural, spectroscopic and kinetic methods. Suppression of MgAl2O4 support acidity, strong interaction of small ...

Abstract PdCu/Al2O3 (Pd = 0.1 wt.%, Cu = 0.1 wt.%) catalyst and its monometallic analogues (Pd/Al2O3 and Cu/Al2O3) were prepared by combination of deposition-precipitation and impregnation methods. The structure of the catalysts was studied by means of XRD, TEM, EDS, TPD-NH3, and DRIFTS. In a standard run (275 ○C, 5 h), Cu/Al2O3 converts 11 % of ethanol to α-alcohols with 0.6 % selectivity, whereas Pd/Al2O3 converts 24 % of ethanol to α-alcohols with 70 % selectivity. The high performance of Pd/...
