Abstract In this study, a highly transparent ultraviolet (UV)-shielding film was prepared by developing disassembled polydopamine (dPDA) oligomers as active UV light absorbers, followed by the incorporation into the matrix of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) via a solvent casting method.
