The synergy between lean production and sustainability can bring competitive advantages to civil construction companies, with increased productivity and reduced negative environmental impacts. In this study, we identified the main tools and best practices used throughout the life cycle of constructions to achieve Lean & Green. The literature reveals relatively few studies on the topic, since only 37 publications were found in the explored databases. There has been a strong incidence of the theme in the last five years, especially in countries such as the United States, Brazil and New Zealand. The application of lean-green in the design and planning phases is highlighted, through practices such as the Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodology application. The main limitations were the lack of studies related to the phases of use, maintenance and demolition of buildings, which is an opportunity for further studies. The main trends identified are outlined in a roadmap so that they can be applied by construction companies aiming at a better performance of lean and sustainable construction projects.
