The effect of carbon content on the microstructure and bonding properties of pure titanium clad carbon steel plates was studied by performing hot-rolling bonding experiments on pure titanium/carbon steel with different carbon contents. Results showed that at 850 °C, the higher the carbon content of the steel used in the experiment, the lower the bond strength of the composite plate. At 1050 °C, the higher the carbon content of the steel used in the experiment, the thicker the preferential TiC layer generated, the stronger the capability to hinder the formation of Fe–Ti compounds, and the higher the bond strength of the composite plate obtained. During hot rolling, TiC was preferentially formed on the interface of pure titanium/carbon steel, and it could effectively reduce the mutual diffusion between Fe and Ti, thus preventing the formation of Fe–Ti compounds. In actual industrial production, when pure titanium and carbon steel are bonded by hot rolling, a reasonable rolling temperature can be selected according to the carbon content of steel to obtain a composite plate with high bonding strength.
