Objectives: Normally, coronary sinus collects venous blood of cardiac veins, then drains to the right atrium.However, the coronary sinus developed from the sinus venosus in embryonic stage.So, in some rare cases, the coronary sinus may dilates for anomalous drainage of vein system.The objective of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of detecting the coronary sinus dilatation in fetus and finding clues for the dilatation by echocardiography.Methods: Fetal echocardiography was performed in 207 fetus, whose coronary sinus were dilated, from 15th to 40th week of gestation (with a median of 23.7 week).Results: According to the clues finding by echocardiography, there are 161 fetus with persistent left superior vena cava (161/207,77.8%),29 fetus with anomalous pulmonary venous connection, including total and partial (29/207,14.0%), 2 fetus with anomalous drainage of venous duct into coronary sinus (2/207,1.0%), 1 fetus with unroofed coronary sinus syndrome which was missed during the prenatal period(1/207,0.5%),and 14 fetus with overload of the right atrium (14/207,6.8%).Conclusions: A dilated coronary sinus, which has important clinical diagnostic value as a clue of other cardiac malformation, is readily identified by echocardiography in fetus.
