The objective of this work is to draw an analysis of Amelogenesis Imperfecta patients’ treatment management of the dento-skeletal vertical dimension and provide recommendations for managing the care of these patients at the end of the growth. The review was undertaken from the PubMed databases in June 2018. Research allows to identify from the case report selection the different treatment of these patients, according to their skeletal and dental vertical diagnosis.The exploration of sixteen case reports shows a skeletal and/ or dental vertical dimension was increased with an anterior open-bite, and/ or an occlusal vertical dimension (OVD) decrease. Concerning the treatment approach, all the patients had a full-mouth restorative rehabilitation at the final stage of the treatment. Depending on the diagnosis and the needed, patients benefited from from surgery, orthodontic, periodontology treatments before the rehabilitation. With a multidisciplinary approach it is possible to treat the skeletal and dental anomalies beforehand, to restore the occlusal vertical dimension. Orthognathic surgery is recommended if the abnormalities of vertical dimension derive from a skeletal component which could not be compensated for. Orthodontic therapy is used to align teeth, to treat dental malocclusions. To minimize tooth wear before entering the restorative phase, the patient’s teeth should be in the ideal position consequent to orthodontics treatment. Periodontology with crown lengthening will manage the prosthetic space. Subsequently, a restorative reconstruction is indicated for all patients suffering from AI to avoid loss of OVD, to prevent further destruction of the teeth and to restore esthetics. Indirect prosthodontic have successfully met those requirements. Recently, adhesive treatments with minimally invasive techniques represent an interesting option for AI patients. However, for definitive restorations its long term survival depends on protocols and type of AI surface. An analysis of the cumulated evidence on outcomes of alternative restoration techniques is critically needed.
