This study collects data on corporate social responsibility and social capital of Chinese businesses based on a 1268 firms questionnaire investigation covering 12 cities. In the first place we make an inductive definition of the scope of corporate social responsibility in China, and then construct a measuring tool for 5-dimension corporate social responsibility and 4-dimension corporate social capital. At the stage of the following exploration, we go beyond the traditional paradigm to scrutinize corporate social responsibility in terms of financial performance indicators, rather attempt to discuss the impact of a firm's social responsibility on its social capital. Finally the research proposes econometric verification formula in the framework of OLS Model and Ordered Probit Model respectively to justify the theoretical hypothesis. The empirical process indicates that when the businesses are willing to take more social responsibility, more social capital will be available accordingly, additionally the impact of individual dimension of the corporate social responsibility varies significantly on social capital. The internal functional mechanism of corporate social responsibility on social capital is also included in the range of discussion.
