The object of this application of light pipes was to observe the motion, distribution, and evaporation rates of fuel droplets under conditions encountered in the early stages (before combustion) chambers were simulated in a pressurised chamber of nitrogen. Pressure and temperature were 1700 kN m-2 and 720K. The technique is compared with other photographic methods.
