Applications of infrared and Raman spectroscopy in the field of cement and concrete as reported over the years are quite significant. Specific applications in areas such as, identification of cement phases including different polymorphic and crystal forms, estimation of phases in cement, cement hydration, admixture, concrete-polymer, alkali-aggregate reactions, etc, have been recognised with various degree of success. More application of these techniques is envisaged with further advancement in instrumentation and in sample preparation, especially in newer products where organic substances play dominant role. Les applications de la spectroscopic infrarouge et Raman dans le domaine du ciment et du béton, ainsi quélles ont été rapportees au cours des années, sont d'une grande importance. Les applications spécifques ont été reconnues avec divers dégres de succès dans les domaines tels que l' identifacation des phases du ciment y compris les formes diverses polymorphiques et cristallines, la détermination des phases dans le ciment, l'hydratation du ciment, des adjuvants, des bétons-polymeres, des reactions alcali-agregat, etc. On envisage d'autres applications de ces techniques a mesure que de nouveaux progrès seront réalisés dans le domaine del instrumentation et dans la préparation des échantillons, surtout dans les nouveaux produits on les substances organiques jouent un role dominant.
