Abstract null null AlCoCrFeNi high entropy alloy (HEA) was coated on AISI410 stainless steel through the electro spark deposition. Fine melt droplets in the arc-zone led to fine dendrites in the coating. Coated phase contained body centered cubic with a minor fraction of face centered cubic phase. Constituent elements from HEA were diffused in the substrate and led to solid solution strengthening at the interface. Threefold increase in the microhardness (to 907 ± 17 HV) was achieved after coatin...

Abstract null null A new variable-rate non-isothermal aging (NIA) process that has different heating/ cooling rates in different corresponding temperature ranges was proposed for an Al-Zn-Mg aluminum alloy. Both the strength and electrical conductivities are enhanced simultaneously by the new process. The results show that the alloys experienced the new variable-rate NIA process achieved a 9.7 % higher strength than conventional T6 temper, and a comparable electrical conductivity was obtained co...

Abstract null null The presented work demonstrates the capability of applying fullerene soot nanoparticles as a phase for strengthening of Cu. Copper-fullerene soot composites with 0-5 wt.% carbon additions were fabricated by molecular level mixing and hot pressing procedure. The structure was observed by light microscopy, SEM, EBSD, and analyzed by XRD. The hardness, thermal conductivity, and coefficient of friction were investigated. The hardness of the composite continuously increases with ca...

Abstract null null This manuscript analyzes the microstructural changes introduced by both monotonic tensile and cyclic loads in ultrafine-grained Armco iron obtained after severe plastic deformation by equal channel angular pressing. The processed material experienced different microstructural gradients depending on the type of load applied. For example, cyclic loads gave rise to grain size and misorientations gradients, while monotonic tensile loads created dislocation and grain size gradients...

Abstract null null Zinc oxide nanostructure favors to grow along with the c-axis and adopt the stable hexagonal wurtzite phase so that the crystal growth produces hexagonal-shaped nanorods or nanoplates. In this work, we demonstrated that the crystal growth preference in the c-axis direction in ZnO nanostructure can be modified to produce an ultimate two-dimensional nanostructure by polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) surfactant under an alkaline condition of hydrothermal reaction. We found that the nano...

Abstract null null Designed morphology for structure-function relationship in the electrode materials is always heat topics in electrochemical energy storage. Herein, we reported that the facile, scalable liquid phase precipitation achieves the construct of urchin-like iron oxalate of three-dimensional structure at room temperature. Farther exploring found that present surfactant (CTAB) could occupy uncleating active sites for iron oxalate, thus generating one-dimensional rod-shape iron oxalate....

Abstract null null Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are a new class of crystalline porous materials, maintaining porosity, stability, uniform pore channel, and well-designed skeletons. These features trait to be well suited as a platform for effective adsorption and separation of sorbents. Here, we reported microporous and stable COF with high-density N and O atoms that are implanted via the linker and vertex design. The new COF possessed high crystallinity, permanent micropores, excellent the...

Abstract null null Two-photon lithography has emerged as a tool of prime importance for additive manufacturing of 2D and 3D micro/nanostructures in metal-polymer composite resins with resolutions beyond the diffraction limit. Two-photon absorption dyes used are not only expensive, difficult to synthesize but also proprietary. To mitigate these challenges, we report formulation of two-photon polymerizable metal doped resin. Two-photon polymerization and reduction of metal-polymer composite resins...
