The emergence of the COVID-19 pandemic declared the huge need of humanity for new and effective antiviral drugs The reported antimicrobial activities of Artemisia sublessingiana encouraged us to investigate the ethanol extract of its aerial parts which led to the isolation of six flavonoids and a sesquiterpenoid The structures of the isolated compounds were elucidated by EI-MS, 1D, and 2D NMR spectroscopic methods to be (1) eupatilin, (2) 3′,4′-dimethoxyluteolin, (3) 5,7,3′-trihydroxy-6,4′,5′-tr...

The spatial patterns, ecological risks, and sources of heavy metals (HMs), including Pb, Zn, Mn, Cu, Cd, Hg, and As in river sediments, were identified around a lead-zinc mine of Danzhai, Guizhou, China. The concentrations of selected HMs and their coefficient variations indicated that the river sediments around this typical lead-zinc mine were obviously contaminated with HMs. Anthropogenic activities had further enhanced the accumulation of HMs. The higher contents of the most common selected H...

Carbonized aramid fiber was prepared as a new type of adsorbent for in-tube solid-phase microextraction. The surface structure, chemical composition, and graphitization degree of the resulted fiber was determined and characterized by scanning electron microscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, and Raman spectrometry. The prepared fiber was packed in a stainless-steel tube instead of the sample loop of a six-port and tested for the extraction of five environmental estrogen hormones coupled wit...
In this research paper, we will compute the topological indices (degree based) such as the ordinary generalized geometric-arithmetic (OGA) index, first and second Gourava indices, first and second hyper-Gourava indices, general Randic´ index , harmonic index, general version of the harmonic index, atom-bond connectivity (ABC) index, SK, SK1, and SK2 indices, sum-connectivity index, general sum-connectivity index, and first general Zagreb and forgotten topological indices for various types of che...

Hospital wastewater contains a complex mixture of bioactive substances and microorganisms that are deleterious to humans and aquatic animals. In this study, four antibiotics, namely, ofloxacin, ciprofloxacin, cefuroxime, and amoxicillin, respectively, from the wastewater of seven hospitals in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, were monitored. The results revealed that the wastewater from these hospitals is contaminated with at least one of the antibiotics. In addition, the degradation capacity of the an...

The synergetic effects between hydroethanolic extracts of A. visnaga HE (AV) and Z. mays hairs HE (ZM) on corrosion of mild steel in 1 M HCl solution was investigated at 298 K by two techniques: potentiodynamic polarization (PP) methods (Tafel and Stern & Geary) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The mixture of HE (AV)/HE (ZM) acted as an efficient corrosion inhibitor and its inhibition efficiency increased with concentration up to 96.55% at 0.01 gL−1 HE (AV)/0.2 gL−1 HE (ZM). The...
Rapid industrialization leads to serious environmental hazards due to the increase in the release of pollutants into the environment. Industries that use synthetic dyes for different applications are a predominant source for dye contaminants by releasing the dye in wastewater with pretreatment or without treatment directly into the water bodies, making serious water pollution in the environment. Therefore, it is imperative to safeguard the environment from such contaminants and their associated ...

The nanosized powders have gained attention to produce materials exhibiting novel properties and for developing advanced technologies as well. Nanosized materials exhibit substantially favourable qualities such as improved catalytic activity, augmentation in reactivity, and reduction in melting temperature. Several researchers have pointed out the influence of ultrafine aluminium (∼100 nm) and nanoaluminium (<100 nm) on burning rates of the composite solid propellants comprising AP as the oxidiz...

The present study outlines the synthesis of transition metal oxide- (TMO-) multiwall carbon nanotubes- (MWCNTs-) based composites for photocatalytic application. MWCNTs were functionalized/purified by treating with H2SO4 and HNO3 to improve their dispersion in water. The TMOs (ZrO2, V2O5) were decorated on MWCNTs by the hydrothermal method to yield V2O5/MWCNTs and ZrO2/MWCNTs composites. Subsequently, these composites were characterized for their structural/morphological studies by Fourier trans...
Shallow burial, very close coal seam groups, and spontaneous combustion are typical characteristics of most coal seams in the Shendong mining area, China. With the continuous extension of the production level of various mines, some mining areas have gradually shown complex production conditions including multiple types of fire forms such as those in coal fields, small kilns, and multilayer mined-out and hidden high-temperature areas, resulting in fire control difficultly and posing threats to sa...
