This paper revisits the master-equation-based approach to physical parameters to characterize transport in three-dimensional and low-dimensional few-electron systems. Advanced expressions of the electron density are theoretically derived at equilibrium for a system having traps. It is revealed that electron density at equilibrium is slightly higher than that without any interface traps as a result of the influence of dynamic trapping/detrapping processes. The capture time constant of electrons a...

The geometry form related to 241Am/Be spontaneous neutron sources has been investigated to evaluate the most optimizing geometry for disused sealed radioactive source (DSRS) disposal. Nine source geometries were assessed: point, disk, sphere 1, sphere 2, sphere 3, cylinder 1, cylinder 2, rectangle 1, and rectangle 2. The most radiological optimizing geometries were found to be the disk, followed by the point source, sphere 1, and cylinder 1, while the rectangle or parallelepiped 2 source forms w...

With the development of integrated circuits according to Moore’s law, traditional silicon-based devices have gradually reached their performance limitation. Nanoelectronics based on carbon nanomaterials provides a broad prospect for the continuation of Moore’s law. In particular, in the field of optoelectronic devices, it is necessary to further develop new types of nano-optoelectronic devices. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) are one of the representative materials of nanoelectronics with excellent elec...

Numerous efforts have been devoted to either understanding or fabricating efficient carrier-selective contacts, since they play a significantly crucial role in high-performance solar cells. In this work, we demonstrate that the asymmetry between electron conductivity and hole conductivity is important but far not enough for efficient carrier-selective contacts. Taking electron-selective contacts as examples, cell performances are greatly affected by the electron conductivity, the hole conductivi...

The effect of fluctuations of dust grains on the parametric up conversion of lower hybrid waves into a whistler wave in a complex plasma is studied. In a complex plasma, which contains ambient magnetic field, the lower hybrid pump possessing a large amplitude decays into two modes: a whistler wave mode and a lower hybrid wave mode having low frequency. Furthermore, a ponderomotive force is exerted by the lower hybrid pump and whistler side bands on the existing electrons, which drives the lower ...

In this study, we demonstrate the effects of surfactants on the morphology of Nb2C MXene-derived ferroelectric KNbO3 crystals. We synthesized plate-like KNbO3 crystals using Nb2C MXene and KOH as niobium and potassium sources, respectively, and sodium dodecyl sulfate as the surfactant. In addition, we conducted the same hydrothermal process for Nb2C MXene and KOH as niobium and potassium sources, respectively, and benzyltriethylammonium chloride as a surfactant; we found that the final product e...

In this paper, the conduction process of the Laser Triggered Vacuum Switch (LTVS) is studied. First, the velocity, density, and temperature of the initial plasma in the LTVS are simulated using COMSOL Multiphysics software. It is found that the generation and development of the initial plasma are at the ns level. Second, the pre-breakdown current test circuit of the LTVS is established. It is found that when the applied voltage at both ends of the switch is 60 V, the multi-rod LTVS is successful...

In BaTiO3 single crystals, we observed a strain-driven phase transition from the tetragonal phase to the tetragonal-orthorhombic phase boundary which can be introduced by slow cycling compressions (a loading of up to 0.5 GPa, strain rate of 10−4 s−1, and 100 cycles) at room temperature. Different from the well-known tetragonal to cubic phase transition under stress (∼2 GPa), it only takes place locally around bent 90° domain walls. The inhomogeneous local stress and electrical fields as well as ...

Medium/high entropy alloys have some excellent properties, such as high strength, high plasticity, high toughness, high wear resistance, etc., which are better than those of traditional metal alloys. The mechanical properties of medium/high entropy alloys have always been the focus of academic research, but research on their interface mechanical behaviors is still missing. In this paper, we have designed a fretting friction and wear testing system, whose accuracy has been verified. A series of f...

The micro-newton thrust generated by an ionic liquid electrospray thruster (ILET) can be used for drag-free control, attitude precise control, networking, and formation flight of micro-nano-satellites or spacecraft. Fabrication of high-quality emitters is one of the key technologies for the application of ILETs. A new method for fabricating externally wetted emitters is presented in this article. This method uses low-speed wire cutting (LSWC) combined with electrochemical etching, and the extern...
