Isostable reduction is a powerful technique that can be used to characterize behaviors of nonlinear dynamical systems using a basis of slowly decaying eigenfunctions of the Koopman operator. When the underlying dynamical equations are known, previously developed numerical techniques allow for high-order accuracy computation of isostable reduced models. However, in situations where the dynamical equations are unknown, few general techniques are available that provide reliable estimates of the iso...

This work is devoted to deriving the Onsager–Machlup action functional for a class of stochastic differential equations with (non-Gaussian) Levy process as well as Brownian motion in high dimensions. This is achieved by applying the Girsanov transformation for probability measures and then by a path representation. The Poincare lemma is essential to handle such a path representation problem in high dimensions. We provide a sufficient condition on the vector field such that this path representati...

The dynamics of four coupled microcells with the oscillatory Belousov–Zhabotinsky (BZ) reaction in them is analyzed with the aid of partial differential equations. Identical BZ microcells are coupled in a circle via identical narrow channels containing all the components of the BZ reaction, which is in the stationary excitable state in the channels. Spikes in the BZ microcells generate unidirectional chemical waves in the channels. A thin filter is put in between the end of the channel and the c...

Application of dynamic chaos for the illumination of the surrounding space by artificial incoherent sources of microwave radiation with the purpose of its subsequent observation using special receiving equipment is considered. An incoherent broadband microwave radiation field is provided by "radio light lamps" based on dynamic chaos generators. The radio light is received with specially designed sensitive elements that combine the properties of an envelope detector in communication systems and a...

In complex dynamical systems, the detection of coupling and its direction from observed time series is a challenging task. We study coupling in coupled Duffing oscillator systems in regular and chaotic dynamical regimes. By observing the conditional mutual information (CMI) based on the Shannon entropy, we successfully infer the direction of coupling for different system regimes. Moreover, we show that, in the weak coupling limit, the values of CMI can be used to infer the coupling parameters by...

The concept of Dynamical Diseases provides a framework to understand physiological control systems in pathological states due to their operating in an abnormal range of control parameters: this allows for the possibility of a return to normal condition by a redress of the values of the governing parameters. The analogy with bifurcations in dynamical systems opens the possibility of mathematically modeling clinical conditions and investigating possible parameter changes that lead to avoidance of ...

Extreme events are investigated in the integrable n-component nonlinear Schrodinger (NLS) equation with focusing nonlinearity. We report novel multi-parametric families of rational vector rogue wave (RW) solutions featuring the parity-time ( P T) symmetry, which are characterized by non-identical boundary conditions for the components that are consistent with the degeneracy of n branches of Benjamin–Feir instability. Explicit examples of P T-symmetric rational vector RWs are presented. Subject t...

As a universal phenomenon in nonlinear optical systems, the soliton pulsating behavior is useful to achieve high pulse energy and can further enrich the complex soliton dynamics. To the best of our knowledge, herein we have demonstrated the observation of multiple-soliton pulsations in an L-band mode-locked fiber laser based on a nonlinear amplifying loop mirror with anomalous dispersion for the first time. Based on the dispersive Fourier transform method, we find that the pulsations in the mult...
