Abstract null null Eutectic high-entropy alloys (EHEAs) are a class of prospective structural material in advanced engineering applications due to their excellent mechanical properties and castability. However, few researchers focused on the surface modification of these EHEAs. This study aimed to propose an effective method combining laser remelting and heat treatment to modify the surface of classical AlCoCrFeNi2.1 EHEA. After surface modification, the surface microhardness of the EHEA increas...

Abstract null null In the present study, microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of the Cu-3Ag-xZr alloys processed by equal channel angular pressing (ECAP) at room temperature were investigated. The results indicated that significant grain refinement can be achieved, and the average grain sizes are remarkably refined to 0.41 ± 0.1 μm and 0.39 ± 0.05 μm after 8 P for Zr-free and Zr-containing alloys, respectively. The continuous dynamic recrystallization (CDRX) should be responsible f...

Abstract null null The microstructure and mechanical properties of as-cast and isothermally annealed CxHf0.25NbTaW0.5 (x=0, 0.05, 0.15, 0.25) refractory high-entropy alloys (RHEAs) were studied. Both the as-cast and annealed RHEAs consisted of disordered body-centered cubic solid solution phase and metal carbide (MC) phase with a face-centered cubic crystal structure (Fm-3m space group). The primary carbides were enriched with Hf and C elements and tended to form lamellar eutectic-like microstru...

Abstract null null In the present study, an Al–Ni–Mg ternary reaction was used to provide an improved interfacial structure of carbon fiber reinforced Al-matrix (CF/Al) composites fabricated by a rapid process in open space. Driven by ternary reaction, better infiltration behavior of Al matrix can be obtained. With increasing Mg element addition, the ternary reaction was enhanced with the formation of Al–Ni–Mg IMCs with gradually larger size. When the value is 2.5 wt%, the relative density incre...

Abstract null null In the present study, metastable immiscible Cu-20Fe-xB alloys with different B addition content were systematically investigated. Experimental results demonstrated that the introduction of micro-alloying B element results in significant change in the solidification microstructure. It was found the volume fraction of phase-separated Fe-rich spherulite increases with increasing B addition content accompanied with an increase in the average size, which experimentally confirms tha...

Abstract null null How to break through the corrosion rupture limit of eutectic Al-Si phase change material (PCM) in iron-based encapsulation container has been a major challenge for realizing the high temperature waste heat recovery in metallurgical industry. Herein, we proposed a self-encapsulation strategy of eutectic Al-Si PCM with no need of container via constructing the 3D-honeycomb-SiC reinforced Al matrix composite with Si-rich◎Si-poor cladding structure ([SiC&Si-rich]◎EAl-Si), which ca...

Abstract null null Eutectic high entropy alloys (EHEAs) have attracted considerable interest because of their excellent casting fluidity and outstanding mechanical properties. In this study, a novel system of EHEAs, namely CrFeNixV0.64Ta0.36 (1.3 ≤ x ≤ 1.9) was designed and prepared. The microstructure evolution and mechanical properties of CrFeNixV0.64Ta0.36 EHEAs were investigated in as-cast state. The results showed that the alloy was composed of σ-phase, Fe7Ta3-type intermetallic compounds (...
