Zhang et al. developed a series of capsaicin-based probes to profile the TRPV1-independent target proteins of capsaicin. Capsaicin ameliorates inflammation by inhibiting the PKM2-LDHA-mediated Warburg effect. This study provides a roadmap for how capsaicin may function as a novel agent for the treatment of sepsis and inflammation.
