Due to its special reaction with H2O to generate abundant hydrogen gas (H2), calcium ions (Ca2+), and hydroxyl ions (OH−), calcium hydride (nano-CaH2) is proposed as a novel therapeutic agent. It can achieve intracellular Ca2+ overloading, neutralization of acidic tumor microenvironment, and hydrogen-immune therapy on mouse tumors (4T1 and CT26) and rabbit liver tumors simultaneously with the interventional TAE.
