Abstract
• Thermal annealing and MOCVD methods have introduced the synthesis of MoS 2 flakes on copper oxide (CuO) nanowires. • CuO/MoS 2 heterojunction nanowires show high stability, more activitie sites and great optical performance. • Vertical−standing, few–layer MoS 2 on CuO nanowire photocathode obtain photocurrent density ( J c ) of −9.8 mA.cm −2 , photoconversion efficiency ( η ) of 0.75%, higher than that of CuO nanowire.
