Lower extremity is the most frequently injured body region in a pedestrian–vehicle impact. To evaluate lower extremity injuries, both the Flexible Pedestrian Legform Impactor (FlexPLI) and the Flexible Pedestrian Legform Impactor with Upper Body Mass (FlexPLI-UBM) have been used in practice.
