Adenocarcinomas of the esophagus and of the gastric cardia are regarded as a same clinical entity in oncology. For endoscopic resection however, endoscopic mucosal resection is recommended for esophageal adenocarcinoma, while endoscopic submucosal dissection (ESD) is advocated for gastric adenocarcinomas.
