Abstract By means of creep properties measurement and contrast analysis of dislocation configuration, the deformation features and affecting factors of a Re/Ru-containing nickel-based single crystal alloy during creep is studied. Results show that the creep life of alloy at 1040 °C/160 MPa is measured to be 725 h to display a good creep resistance. During creep, the W, Re atoms in γ′ phase may be excluded for enriching in the γ phase near the interface, which may bring the lattice aberrance to d...

A transversely isotropic continuum elasto-viscoplasticity model, which was developed from Chaboche’s unified constitutive model, was formulated to capture the thermal mechanical creep fatigue deformation behavior of a directionally solidified nickel-based superalloy. A fourth-order tensor was introduced to model material anisotropy. In order to model the tertiary creep behavior, the Kachanov damage evolution equation was coupled into the stress tensor. Based on the test results of uniaxial tensi...

Abstract Dramatic temperature changes will lead to uneven expansion and contraction, and then create transient stress cycles that inevitably result in thermal fatigue damage. In this study, the thermal fatigue crack initiation and propagation behaviors of a typical directionally solidified superalloy DZ125 under 900 °C and 1000 °C were investigated systematically using a homemade and calibrated thermal fatigue facility. The maximum thermal stress was evaluated by the finite element method, and t...

Abstract By means of measuring the yield and ultimate tensile strength at room temperature, microstructure observation and contrast analysis of dislocation configuration, the deformation features of a single crystal Ni-based superalloy during tensile are investigated. The results show that the ultimate tensile strength (σb) and yield strength (σ0.2) of the single crystal nickel-based superalloy at room temperature are measured to be 1023 MPa and 958 MPa, respectively. During tensile at RT, the s...

Abstract Super-solvus heat treatment (SSHT) followed by quenching at different cooling rates was carried out for a new nickel-based powder metallurgy (PM) FGH98 superalloy, and the influence of various cooling rates on the microstructure including the grain boundary morphology and γ′ phases precipitation at the grain boundary or within the grains was studied systematically in this paper. The results showed that the grain boundaries were serrated with broad widths when the cooling rates did not e...

Abstract Specimens with two different γ′ phase microstructures, named as-heat treated sample with cuboidal γ′ phases and pre-rafted sample with N-type rafted γ′ phases, were compared to investigate the negative influence of the rafted γ′ phases on the creep property in a Ni-based single crystal superalloy with 4% Re addition at 750 °C and 750 MPa condition. The results indicated that the sample with cuboidal γ′ phases exhibited a lower creep rate and a longer rupture life compared to that with r...

Abstract By means of heat treatment at various regimes, creep property measurement, microstructure observation and thermodynamic analysis, the precipitation behaviors of carbides and effect of its configuration on the creep properties of FGH95 alloy are investigated. Results show that after solution treated at 1155 ℃ and fully heat treatment, the microstructure of alloy consists of fine γ' phase, γ matrix, (Nb, Ti)C and M 23 C 6 carbides. The excellent creep life of alloy at 1034 MPa/650 ℃ is at...

The double-activated porous carbons (DAPCs) with unique bimodal pore structure were prepared by activating commercial microporous carbon (CMCs) twice through KOH (double activation) at high temperature. The as-prepared DAPCs show larger surface area (833 m2·g−1), and the pores are composed of micropores (size of ~1.8 nm) and mesopores (size of ~4.5 nm). Such special hierarchical porous structures integrate the dual advantages of micropore and mesopore, having not only the high energy storage of ...

Abstract By means of creep properties measurement, microstructure observation and lattice parameters measurement, the microstructure evolution and creep behaviors of a directionally solidified nickel-based alloy under long-life service condition are investigated. The results show that the creep life of the alloy at 980 °C/90 MPa is measured to be 9714 h. During creep, the various morphologies of γ′ and γ phases display in the different regions of sample. Wherein, the γ′ phase in the region near ...
