Abstract
β-Thalassemia is an inherited single gene disorder related to reduced synthesis of the β-globin chain of hemoglobin. Patients with β-thalassemia present variable clinical severity ranging from asymptomatic trait to severe transfusion-dependent anemia and multiple organs complications.
