Abstract
Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons consisting of three fused anthracene units were designed as new π-conjugated compounds having helical structures. These expanded helicenes were synthesized by Pt-catalyzed cycloisomerization of the corresponding ethynyl-substituted precursors.
