Aldosterone (Aldo) causes myocardial injury and fibrosis. While most Aldo is made by the adrenal zona glomerulosa; there have been controversial reports that Aldo is also synthesized in the heart; such myocardial synthesis of Aldo might contribute to myocardial injury.
