RNA-binding proteins typically change the fate of RNA, such as stability, translation or processing. Conversely, we recently uncovered that the small non-coding vault RNA 1-1 (vtRNA1-1) directly binds to the autophagic receptor p62/SQSTM1 and changes the protein's function.
