A modified fifth order Z-type (nonlinear) weights, which consist of a linear term and a nonlinear term, in the weighted essentially non-oscillatory (WENO) polynomial reconstruction procedure for the WENO-Z finite difference scheme in solving hyperbolic conservation laws is proposed.
