Ti鈥揅rNi alloy coatings with 20, 40, 60 and 80鈥奱t-%Ni were prepared on Ti6Al4V alloy surface by double glow plasma surface alloying technique. The cyclic oxidation behaviour of the coatings was investigated at 750, 850 and 950掳C. The results show that each coating has a complete structure of settled layer, mutual diffusion layer and sputtering affected zone. Abstract A dense CrCoNiAlTiY coating was deposited onto the 纬-TiAl alloy by double-glow plasma surface alloying technique to improve its wear resistance. Oxidation resistance coatings of Ir鈥40聽at.% Zr and Ir were produced onto Mo substrates by double glow plasma technology. The oxidation resistances of the coatings were evaluated at high temperature. Abstract Double-glow plasma surface chromising was performed on TC4 (Ti鈥6Al鈥4V) alloys, and the isothermal oxidation behaviour of TC4 was investigated at 650, 750, and 850聽掳C. The surface treatment caused the formation of a Ti鈥揅r mutual diffusion layer beneath the alloy surface. The chromising coating consisted of Cr, Cr 1.97 Ti 1.07 , and CrTi 4 . During oxidation, Cr, Ti, and Al diffused outward to form multi-layer oxide films, which prevented the diffusion of oxygen.
