Abstract
This paper proposes a new straight-tapered shrink (STS) circular tube, which is planned to be applied on railway coupler for energy absorbing and overload protection. Quasi-static experiment and finite element (FE) simulation were adopted to investigate the crashworthiness performance of the STS tube.
