Abstract
Deposition of the organic-rich shales of the Wufeng and lowermost Longmaxi formations (late Katian through Hirnantian) occurred in a relatively stable tectonic setting and commenced at approximately 4.5 Myr prior to the end-Ordovician glacial maximum.
