Abstract
In 2016, an estimated 830,000 individuals were living with HIV/AIDS in Brazil, with an overall HIV prevalence rate of 0.4% in the general population. In the same period, 37.4% of AIDS cases occurred among young people aged 20 to 29. The male/female sex ratio of AIDS cases increased from 1.8 in 2010 to 2.5 in 2016.
