The unique optical and electronic properties of graphene open up new opportunities for optoelectronics. This work reports the use of solution-processed high-quality graphene as transparent conductive electrode in an organic solar cell using an electrochemical approach. The fabricated thieno[3,4-b]thiophene/benzodithiophene:phenyl-C71-butyric acid methyl ester (PTB7:PCB71M) bulk heterojunction organic solar cell based on the exfoliated graphene (EG) anode exhibits a power conversion efficiency of...

To bridge the gap between laboratory-scale studies and commercial applications, mass production of high quality graphene is essential. A scalable exfoliation strategy towards the production of graphene sheets is presented that has excellent yield (ca. 75 %, 1–3 layers), low defect density (a C/O ratio of 21.2), great solution-processability, and outstanding electronic properties (a hole mobility of 430 cm2 V−1 s−1). By applying alternating currents, dual exfoliation at both graphite electrodes e...

Advances in the research of graphene in the development of optoelectronic devices have clearly witnessed a strong increase in the past few years. Graphene, a zero bandgap semiconducting material exhibits exceptional properties such as high conductivity, mechanical robustness, optical transparency, flexibility and much more yet to be discovered. Due to its extraordinary properties, graphene is believed to have the potential to replace many traditional electrode materials that are being used in op...

The covalent functionalization of single and bilayer graphene on SiO2 (300 nm)/Si was effected through sequential treatment with the alkalide reductant [K(15-crown-5)2]Na and electrophilic aryl or alkyl halides, of which the iodides proved to be the most reactive. The condensation reactions proceeded at room temperature and afforded the corresponding aryl- or alkyl-appended graphenes. For each sample, Raman and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopies were used to evaluate the degrees and uniformities...

Thermal annealing of the emissive layer of an organic light emitting diode (OLED) is a common practice for solution processable emissive layers and reported annealing temperatures varies across a wide range of temperatures. We have investigated the influence of thermal annealing of the emissive layer at different temperatures on the performance of OLEDs. Solution processed polymer Super Yellow emissive layers were annealed at different temperatures and their performances were compared against OL...

We construct shortcuts to adiabatic passage to achieve controllable and fast quantum-information transfer (QIT) between arbitrary two distant nodes in a two-dimensional (2D) quantum network. Through suitable designing of time-dependent Rabi frequencies, we show that perfect QIT between arbitrary two distant nodes can be rapidly achieved. Numerical simulations demonstrate that the proposal is robust to the decoherence caused by atomic spontaneous emission and cavity photon leakage. Additionally, ...

: A new type of flexible transparent electrode is designed, by employing wettability-induced selective electroless-welding of silver nanowire (AgNW) networks, together with a thin conductive iongel as the protective layer. The obtained electrode exhibits high optical transmittance, and excellent air-stability without sacrificing conductivity.

Graphene is known to prevent permeation of gases that can effectively prevent oxidation of Ag nanowires. In this study, the role of the reduced graphene oxide (RGO) in chemical stability and its effect on the mechanical reliability was studied for a Ag nanowire/RGO hybrid transparent electrode. Bending fatigue tests up to 800 000 cycles were performed by monitoring the in situ resistance change while imposing fixed, uniform bending strain on Ag nanowire networks with and without a RGO layer. A t...

Bottom-up approaches allow the production of ultranarrow and atomically precise graphene nanoribbons (GNRs) with electronic and optical properties controlled by the specific atomic structure. Combining Raman spectroscopy and ab initio simulations, we show that GNR width, edge geometry, and functional groups all influence their Raman spectra. The low-energy spectral region below 1000 cm–1 is particularly sensitive to edge morphology and functionalization, while the D peak dispersion can be used t...

Abstract null null Mechanically flexible optoelectronic devices such as flexible displays, touch-screens, wearable electronics and solar cells are attracting significant commercial interest. In these devices, a transparent conductor is an essential element that delivers or collects the electrical current to the active material while it allows light to enter or exit from the device. The transparent conductor is composed of a transparent conductive film and a metallic grid providing electrical con...

Abstract null null Organic solar cells (OSCs) that converted sunlight into electricity have obtained numerous progress in the past two decades. With the efforts of developing new conjugated materials, the power conversion efficiencies (PCEs) of OSCs have realized over 18%, which are comparable with other types of solar cells. These great achievements enable OSCs to arrive at the key period toward industrial application. Flexibility is the main characteristic of OSCs, which endows OSCs to be appl...

In the ever-increasing energy demand scenario, the development of novel photovoltaic (PV) technologies is considered to be one of the key solutions to fulfil the energy request. In this context, graphene and related two-dimensional (2D) materials (GRMs), including nonlayered 2D materials and 2D perovskites, as well as their hybrid systems, are emerging as promising candidates to drive innovation in PV technologies. The mechanical, thermal, and optoelectronic properties of GRMs can be exploited i...

Single nanowires (NWs), as a kind of new surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) substrates, have received extensive concern owing to their distinctive properties and distinct advantages. In this contribution, single Ag nanowires (AgNWs) and single Au-coated AgNWs (Ag@AuNWs) were fabricated by the laser-assisted pulling method and the galvanic replacement reaction, respectively. The prepared single Ag@AuNWs show both high SERS activity and catalytic activity through in situ monitoring and asses...

Several promising FTCEs based on metal material have been developed to replace conventional indium tin oxide (ITO). The random metal mesh is considered to be one of the competitive candidates. However, obtaining feasible random metal mesh with low sheet resistance, high transparency, good mechanical durability, and strong environmental stability is still a great challenge...
