Thiamine Deficiency While on Total Parenteral Nutrition Mimicking Acute Stroke: A Case Report (P3.217)

OBJECTIVE: To describe an unusual case of thiamine deficiency presenting as acute Wernicke’s syndrome, for which a stroke alert was activated. BACKGROUND: This report demonstrates the importance of evaluating for Wernicke’s syndrome in the acute onset of brainstem symptoms, particularly as symptoms may be reversible following administration of thiamine.
