Abstract
Current research reports the synthesis of reduced graphene oxide (RGO)-TiO 2 nanocomposite by in-situ redox method and graphene oxide by modified hummers method. The ratio of RGO and TiO 2 in the composite was optimized to show best photocatalytic activity for the degradation of targeted pollutants. Optimized (1:10) RGO-TiO 2 nanocomposite was characterized by various techniques viz. X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Brunauer–Emmett–Teller surface area (BET), Raman and diffuse reflectance spectroscopy (DRS) technique confirming successful formation of nanocomposite. XRD results confirm the presence of anatase phase in RGO-TiO 2 . Uniform dispersion of TiO 2 nanoparticles on RGO could be seen from TEM images. The obtained results of (1:10) RGO-TiO 2 showed five-fold and two-fold enhancement for the visible light and UV light, respectively, for the photocatalytic mineralization of methylene blue dye as compared to commercial Aeroxide P25 TiO 2 . The excellent photocatalytic mineralization activity of (1:10) RGO-TiO 2 could be attributed to the enhanced surface area of composite as well as to its good electron sink capability. (1:10) RGO-TiO 2 could be recycled easily and was found to be equally efficient even after the fourth cycle for the photocatalytic mineralization of methylene blue dye. The non-selectivity of synthesized composite was checked by the mineralization studies of oxalic acid.

A triethylene glycol (trigol) based simple approach is reported for the reduction of graphite oxide (GO). This protocol produces high quality graphene which we term as trigol reduced graphene (TRG) and its relevant properties including electrical conductivity and energy storage capacity are comparable to those of graphene obtained by the conventional hydrazine based approach. The achieved specific capacitance for TRG is 130 F g−1 with an energy density value of 18 W h kg−1. This work opens up a ...

Electron-hole recombination limits the efficiency of TiO2. We have investigated the efficacy with which the graphene@TiO2 "dyade"-like structure reduced charge recombination and enhanced reactivity. A visible-light photocatalysis of graphene@TiO2 "dyade"-like structure was synthesized, and photocatalytic degradation of organic compounds over the UV and visible-light spectrum regions was investigated. The graphene@TiO2 had anatase phase and was able to absorb a high amount of photo energy in the ...

Abstract This article presents a novel synthesis of fluorinated hexagonal boron nitride (F-BN)/Titanium di-oxide (TiO2) hybrid nano-composite by sol-gel method. The prepared nano-composite has shown remarkable photo-catalytic activity under visible light illumination. Our results revealed a strong electrostatic coupling between TiO2 nanoparticles, while the reduced band gap of F-BN makes F-BN/TiO2 highly responsive to visible light. It is also observed that the hybridization of F-BN (with TiO2) ...

The present work is concerned with studying the electrical and dielectric properties of a single, binary, and ternary nanocomposite of Mn3O4 (M), TiO2 (T), and reduced graphene oxide (RGO). The electrical properties of the investigated systems were studied via dc-, ac- conductivity, dielectric, and impedance spectroscopy (EIS) measurements. The electrical conductivity is found to increase in the following order: rGO > T@rGO > Ti > M@rGO > M@T > M@T@rGO > M. The dielectric constant (e′) and diele...
